1. Using Dexhands

These terms describe use of dexhands.org, referred to here as “Dexhands.” Dexhands is the public site name and contact identity of the site administrators. Contact the team at info@dexhands.org.

The site provides a source-linked hand catalog, research references, learning material, collections, community discussions and a supplier-inquiry tool. Reading is public. Community accounts are free. Dexhands does not currently sell robotic hands, process hardware payments, host Git repositories or provide GPU compute.

When creating an account, review and accept these terms and the Community guidelines. The Privacy page explains data handling. If you act for an organization, you must be authorized to share its information and make the requests you submit.

2. Your account

Use accurate information when identifying yourself or your affiliation. Do not impersonate another person or manufacturer. Keep your password and private recovery code secure and tell us if you suspect unauthorized access. Account recovery uses the saved recovery code; the optional verified email for supplier replies does not replace account recovery.

Do not bypass access controls or rate limits, interfere with other members, send spam, or use the site for unlawful activity. Automated access must respect published restrictions and must not disrupt the service or collect private account information.

3. Your work stays yours

You retain ownership of your original contributions. Only submit material you have the right to share. By submitting content, you give the site administrators a non-exclusive permission to store, format, display and distribute it as needed to operate the features you choose, subject to their public or private visibility. This permission does not transfer ownership or place your work under an open-source license.

Public contributions and your username may be seen, indexed or copied by others. Private collections and inquiries do not become public merely because they are saved. A moderation submission may be read by moderators. See the Privacy page for visibility, retention and removal details.

Credit original authors and preserve license notices. Linking to a project, dataset, photograph or product does not grant permission to redistribute it. Its original license and publisher’s terms still apply. Do not post confidential designs, credentials, another person’s private information or material that infringes someone else’s rights.

4. Evidence and moderation

Separate manufacturer claims, estimates, simulation results and physical measurements. Identify revisions, test conditions and human assistance. Disclose employment, sponsorship and other commercial interests. Do not fabricate results, harass people or misrepresent an affiliation.

Moderators may review, hide or remove contributions and restrict accounts to address misuse, rights complaints or security concerns. First contributions may be reviewed before publication. Approval is not a technical validation or identity certification. Use a post’s Report action, Account help or our contact email to raise a concern or appeal a moderation decision.

5. Supplier inquiries

You choose the suppliers and review the messages. Saving a brief creates private drafts; it does not send them. Website sending requires a verified reply address and a separate send confirmation. Each selected supplier receives its own email. If you select “Send me a copy,” your verified address receives a blind copy. Suppliers’ contact forms must be submitted on their own websites.

You authorize the selected messages and the sharing of their contents, your reply address and any introduction you include. Do not submit unsolicited bulk requests or confidential material you are not authorized to disclose. The site uses Resend for website email; our Privacy page explains the associated processing.

A listed supplier is a public contact route, not necessarily a participating partner. “Accepted” records acceptance by the email service; it does not guarantee delivery, a reply or a quotation. Suppliers independently determine suitability, availability, pricing and contractual terms. Any purchase agreement is between you and the supplier. Dexhands is not a party to that hardware purchase.

6. Research, learning and external resources

Catalog records and lessons help you investigate and plan; they are not product certifications or guarantees of compatibility, safety or task performance. Information may be incomplete or become outdated. Check the dated original source and the exact hardware, firmware, software and license before relying on a record.

Browser exercises and experiment planners do not operate physical hardware or establish that a hand passed a test. Follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions and evaluate the complete system before deployment. External websites, code and datasets are provided by their respective publishers, under their own terms.

7. Account controls and availability

You can export your account information and deactivate your account from Account settings. Deactivation ends access and hides public profile and collection information; it does not automatically delete all records or previously published discussions. Contact us for removal requests. Sent emails cannot be recalled by deleting a saved inquiry.

The site may change, experience interruptions or restrict features to protect its users. Keep your own copies of important work. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, exhaustive coverage, supplier responses or a particular research or purchasing outcome. Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

8. Changes to these terms

The version and publication date appear at the top of this page. New registrations record the version accepted and its timestamp. Accounts created earlier are not automatically recorded as having accepted this version. Material changes will be identified on this page; where renewed acceptance is needed, it must be requested explicitly.

9. Questions and rights requests

For account help, corrections, privacy requests, rights complaints or press inquiries, contact info@dexhands.org. For a content complaint, identify the page, the material at issue and the basis of your request. Never send a password or recovery code.
